God's Blessings often benefit all people. But many of His promises are only for His own children. If you're not sure that you're a part of God's family, He offers you this invitation. The way to Christ is simple:

1. Admit that you have a need.

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;
Romans 3:23

2. Believe that Jesus is God, the Son, who paid the wages of your sin.

For the wages of sin is death [eternal separation from God]; but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
Romans 6:23

3. Call upon God.

That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

Romans 10:9

Nopers, I'm not of God's people.
I'm one of the "other people."
You know, the folks Cain went off and married, and had kids with, after he was banished from the progeny of Adam and Eve for killing his brother because Jaweh prefers blood sacrifices to agricultural ones. Yeah, the people who existed before Adam and Eve. You know: the ones Elohim made before Jaweh got into his own experimental garden? Yep, those.
    How do I know?
Why, because I don’t carry original sin!
How do I know I don’t carry original sin?
I feel no shame upon being naked.

If you ever go to these people with a problem, they put you through this ritual over and over and over and over - and everytime. Because no one is ever sure that it "took" with anyone, least of all themselves...

You never get any practical advice about anything, just another formal introduction to God who is supposed to take care of everything...and if He doesn't for you, then the problem is in you! Not them or God...just YOU! You obviously did not get with the program correctly, so go back to step one and start over! Do it right this time!

Try it...go to a church with a problem in your life! What is the first order of business? Step 1...

Depends on the church. Some of the old school pastoral churches have priests/pastors that sometimes offer some more practical advice. There were a few churches in SD that would lend some advice even to a devout pagan like me. They made the occasional attempt to bring me into the fold but for the most part they just offered the advice of somebody who's been listening to the problems and confessions of an entire community for a fistful of decades. Those gents were good men of the cloth and I respect them.
Religion-pushers and fundamentalists, however, make me queasy. I never have been comfy with the fanatic gleam.

well, I am a practicing catholic and I do go to church every sunday, but not just any church, but a gospel mass run by a priest from Berkeley who wears Birkenstocks and crank calls the vatican for fun. One of my friends calls it the "happy clappy" church.

          Seriously.
It's entertaining, but it really is nice to hear uplifting words from a man who is the first to admit he's been to hell and back and he doesn't have all the answers, but he's willing to try to figure it out with you. I like it when a priest admits that he's human just like the rest of us.

I love this thread. I can't help but giggle at n00bevangelists.

"How can I win my fellow man over to Christ? Tribe.net. That's it!"

I especially love that the author gave the ISBN for the Holy Bible. Golly, gee, I don't know how I'd manage to find one without that.

Apparently this person does not subscribe to the "parable of the sower" in Mark.
      en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Para..._the_Sower

Which in essence recommends that the seeds be sown on fertile ground...
      and as we have seen...
most people on tribe are unwilling to receive the word...
(as is my experience at least)
and so Tribe... is infertile ground

The way to Christ is simple. The way to Satan is easy.

Sherpa -a good way to explain why that is (what you just said) is how raising one's vibration requires increased energy while a black hole consumes it.

There's a great book that talks about this and the choices we make that create our reality called: "Playing the Quantum Field". Sorry folks, I don't have the ISBN on me at the moment. Good luck! ;)

Simple is not always easy. And made ever the more difficult by overly-complicating things.

Religion is answers and rules...and dire consequences.
Spirituality is questions...with mild suggestions at times and little judgement or consequences.
              Mistakes are just universal.
Hell is non-existent because this is as close as you ever get.
Imagination and thought are the key to everything.

There is pure, unadulterated BS out there!

(these are just a few of the truths I know...)
              deconstruct...reconstruct, that is my motto
